Carrier oil
Castor oil as a carrier for essential oils
Castor oil is famously thick and sticky because it’s almost all ricinoleic acid. That heaviness makes it a staple of scalp, brow and cuticle care — usually thinned with a lighter carrier so it actually spreads.
Best for
- Scalp & hair blends
- Brow care (away from eyes)
- Cuticles & nails
- Thinned 1:1 with a lighter oil
Using it with essential oils
For a scalp blend, mix castor 1:1 with jojoba or FCO and add rosemary and cedarwood at about 1%.
