Lemongrass Vitality (Cymbopogon flexuosus)

Lemongrass Vitality is the dietary-labeled version of Young Living’s Lemongrass oil (Cymbopogon flexuosus), steam-distilled from the same tall, fibrous tropical grass used fresh in Thai, Vietnamese, and other Southeast Asian cooking.

From stalk to bottle

Fresh lemongrass stalks are famously labor-intensive to prepare — the tough outer layers have to be peeled back and the fibrous interior bruised or minced to release its flavor. The oil sidesteps all of that, delivering the same bright, citrusy-herbal character in a single drop without any of the prep work or the fibrous texture that has to be fished back out of a finished dish.

In the kitchen

A single drop replaces a stalk or more of fresh lemongrass in soups, curries, marinades, and infused teas. Because the oil is so concentrated, it’s easy to overdo — start with less than a recipe calling for fresh lemongrass would suggest.

Internal use

Follow label directions; lemongrass oil is potent, and its citral content means a heavy hand can quickly overpower a dish rather than simply brightening it.

What pairs well

Lemongrass’s bright citrus-herbal note is a natural fit alongside ginger, garlic, chili, and coconut flavors in Southeast Asian-style cooking, and it also works in citrus-forward teas.
