Grapefruit Vitality (Citrus paradisi)

Grapefruit Vitality (Citrus paradisi) is the same cold-pressed peel oil as Young Living’s standard Grapefruit bottle, just packaged with a supplement facts label for internal use. Grapefruit itself is a relatively young citrus fruit in botanical terms, believed to have originated in Barbados in the 18th century as a natural cross between sweet orange and pomelo.

Extraction & Flavor

Rather than steam distillation, grapefruit oil is cold-pressed directly from the peel — the same mechanical extraction method used for most citrus oils, which preserves the fruit’s fresh, top-note aroma more faithfully than heat-based distillation would. The oil is dominated by limonene (85–95%), the compound responsible for its bright, characteristic citrus smell, with a smaller but potent contribution from nootkatone, the compound largely responsible for grapefruit’s distinctive, slightly bitter-tart edge that sets it apart from orange or lemon.

A drop or two brightens sparkling water, vinaigrettes, marinades, and citrus desserts, functioning as a concentrated stand-in for fresh zest when a recipe calls for grapefruit flavor without the fruit itself on hand. Safety Note
