In this blend
A grounding blend of black spruce, blue tansy, frankincense, and geranium.
Valor blends black spruce, blue tansy, frankincense, and geranium in a fractionated coconut oil base, making it one of the few Young Living blends that ships pre-diluted and ready for topical use straight out of the bottle. The aroma is woody, slightly floral, and deeply grounding.
What’s in it
Black spruce, a cold-climate conifer, supplies the grounding, woody backbone. Blue tansy — a deep blue Moroccan-grown oil, colored by a compound called chamazulene also found in German chamomile — contributes both the distinctive tint and a sweet, herbaceous depth. Frankincense, tapped as resin from Boswellia trees, adds a warm, calming note, and geranium’s soft floral top rounds out the combination.
Aroma and character
The overall effect is grounding rather than bright — more forest-and-resin than flower garden — with just enough floral lift from the geranium to keep it from feeling heavy.
In the diffuser
3–5 drops creates a centering, calm atmosphere; many people reach for it before a demanding meeting, workout, or any situation where they want to feel more settled and confident.
On skin
Because it’s already diluted, Valor is typically applied directly to the wrists, chest, or back of the neck — a small dab is usually enough. It’s one of the more approachable blends for first-time topical users, since there’s no dilution math involved.
A note on blue tansy
Blue tansy is a relatively rare and labor-intensive component, distilled from a small Moroccan daisy relative, and its scarcity is part of why Valor commands a higher price than most single oils.
Sourcing note
As a proprietary ratio blend, there’s no substitute for buying the named product if you want the intended balance and pre-set dilution — home attempts to recreate it are unlikely to match either.
