Melrose

How to use it
Dilute well in a carrier oil and apply a small amount to a targeted area.
Test on a small area and avoid the eyes and any broken skin.
In this blend
Two melaleuca species with clove and rosemary.
What it’s designed for
Melrose is one of the more clinical-feeling blends in the Young Living catalog — a topical, spot-treatment formula rather than something most people would run in a diffuser for fragrance. It combines two melaleuca species with clove and rosemary into an aroma that reads more “first-aid kit” than “spa.”
The oils in it
- Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) — the primary melaleuca, giving the blend its fresh, medicinal backbone.
- Niaouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia) — a related melaleuca species that rounds out the sharp, camphoraceous top notes.
- Clove — adds warmth and the blend’s spicy, slightly hot undertone.
- Rosemary — a sharp, herbaceous note that balances the two melaleuca oils.
Aroma
Fresh, green, and slightly medicinal on top, with clove’s warmth underneath — distinctive, and easy to recognize once you’ve smelled it a few times.
When and how people use it
Melrose is almost always applied topically and locally rather than diffused broadly. People reach for it as a targeted application on a specific area of skin they want to pay closer attention to, using a small diluted amount rather than a broad, leave-on layer. Some prefer it over plain tea tree oil when they want the extra warmth and depth that clove and rosemary contribute.
Safety note
Clove is a genuine hot oil and can irritate skin at higher concentrations, so Melrose should always be diluted in a carrier oil before topical use. Patch-test on a small area first, avoid the eyes and any broken or highly sensitive skin, and use extra caution with children — see our allergy and safety guide for general precautions before trying a new topical blend.
Sourcing note
As with other Young Living blends, Melrose is a proprietary ratio rather than a formula you can casually replicate at home — buying the named product is the only reliable way to reproduce its intended balance and effect.
